Love it or hate it, Valentine's Day will be here this weekend. It's a season of reminders. Reminding of why you love the person you're with, if you love the person you're with, and how you would love a person if you were with them (see what I did there? heehee). Everyone's relationship status is different, so there are many ways that we all will be spending our Valentine's Day weekend, but one thing that I know everyone will have no matter what is music! So whether you will be serenading your significant other or yourself, here are some of my bae or bae-less songs!
1. Best Mistake by Ariana Grande feat. Big Sean
At the end of the day, a mistake is a mistake. But sometimes we are able to reminisce on those mistakes and rank them accordingly. That's what this song is about. Dating someone that sucked for you in the end, but definitely made you enjoy the journey to the tragic end. This song will cause you to reflect, but without bitterness.
2. Come Away by Elijah Blake
This song is for lovers who aren't ready to commit yet. A pair that is hopelessly infatuated with each other, but mainly on the physical level. Some intellectualism may be thrown in there, but this song narrates a weekend bae-cation that is about their physicality.
3. Exchange by Bryson Tiller
If you're wanting to be completely moved into your feelings this weekend, then this is the song for you. If you want to fully indulge in thinking about that ex that got away have this song on repeat.
4. Worth It by Iman Omari
Iman Omari's sound is so different, yet refreshing. That's how I feel when I listen to "Worth It." It'll make any girl feel beautiful, accepted and- well, worth it.
6. Jungle Lady by Lion Babe
This song is a mix between being softly erotic and effortlessly cool. Lion Babe's leading lady has an angelic voice that'll make you feel a type of way about your current or potential bae.
6. Down For You by Kehlani feat. BJ The Chicago Kid
This song is for all the hopeless romantics that will be ruining everyone's timeline and restaurant space. It's an adorable love song, with a West Coast twang to it.
7. To Do List by Kyle feat. CP
Let's just say, this song is not talking about a checklist. It's a very straightforward song about getting down to business. And even if you're not planning on getting down this weekend, it's a really catchy tune.
8. Don't Wanna Fall In Love by Kyle
I had to put Kyle on this list again! His quirkiness just easily puts me in a good mood. This song is for those who are single and loving it! The song states that love hurts like a knife (ouch!), but melodically sounds like it would be an exciting pain to embark on.
9. Hey by KING
This song is for any coffee date after six. For those dates that start off at a spoken word event, and that end over a quiet dinner. This song by King sounds like coffee and feels like chocolate (poetic, right?).
10. Cascade by Ari Lennox
I am a huge fan of Ari Lennox! Her voice is absolutely beautiful, and her style is comparable to the great Erykah Badu. This song is subtly sensual. If you listen to the lyrics closely, you'll get what I mean.
I hope those songs can start your musical playlist for the weekend. No matter what you do or listen to, try to enjoy yourselves, queens!
