Since we are discussing our dreams, both figuratively and physically, I decided to share a couple of my strange dreams this month in a segment that will be called #StoryTime.
So for some time I have been wanting a pet. I'm too broke and busy for a dog, so I decided on a cat. I'm living at home with my mom right now so in order for me to have any pet I have to convince her first, which is not an easy task because she does not like animals- no matter how cute or fluffy they may be :/.
So I talked to one of my friends who recently adopted a cat. Her cat is now almost one year old. He is social, and the nicest cat I've ever encountered. She told me about the agency she went through, and I began browsing for a cat! I found an adorable orange and white short-haired cat that is only 4 months old. He was adorable! I sent the picture to my mom, thinking she would fall in love too. And of course, she didn't. I was so disappointed! And the next day I had the following dream:
I was at home after work, in the kitchen with my boyfriend. My sister appeared and told me that my mom had a surprise for me. I then saw my mom hiding behind my sister with what appeared to be a small bundle of something. I automatically knew it was a cat and jumped for joy. I ran over to my mom to grab the "cat," and told her I couldn't believe she surprised me. I grabbed the bundle, turned it over to see its face, and to my surprise...it was a damn platypus!!! That's right ladies and gentleman, a platypus. Which was really strange because I have never in life seen a platypus, so in my dream it looked more cartoonish.
After realizing that the cat was not a cat, but an actual platypus, I dropped the thing and cried to my boyfriend. He consoled me saying that the platypus was cute and I should keep it and name it Larry. I was very sad but mostly confused as to why my mother felt it was okay to purchase a platypus as opposed to the adorable kitten I showed her a few days prior. My boyfriend went over to pick it up and began gently stroking it, and told me to lighten up. I then grabbed my computer and started researching how to take care of a platypus...
The rest of the dream was a blur, and I woke up shortly, thinking I really had a pet platypus. I grabbed my phone and looked up pictures and found that platypus' are not cute at all! And it made me crack up! I had to blog about this!
My interpretation of this dream could be far fetched, but here it is:
My desire for wanting a cat, may be wrong timing. It may be an absurd task to take on because I'm not yet set in my career or where I want to live, which may be why the cat turned into a platypus. Meaning, a caring for a cat- or caring for anything with life, other than my own, would be out of the norm right now, and unexpected. If I had gotten the cat, I wouldn't know how to care for it, but I could easily learn how to.
