So here's the thing, I realize my natural hair (afro) will always cause some attention. It's unfortunate that the way God created my hair to grow out of my scalp is an attraction to other cultures as well as mine, but you know, that's life. At first, I didn't mind those of my own culture (African descent) to touch my hair, but now it is limited to everyone. More and more I realized that people see it as a spectacle than something beautiful, and I just can't deal with that type of attention. This was made very prevalent during my stay in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
What is your name, where are you from, and what do you do?
My name is Dominique Austin. I grew up a military brat so I was born in Abilene, Texas but I claim Kansas City, Missouri as home, but now I live in Dallas. I'm a student at the University of North Texas, my major is social work and my minor is in communications.
When did you start vlogging?
I started vloging my freshman year of college. Honestly, it was nothing but God that gave me the idea. I've always done well with giving advice and sharing what I may go through. So it kind of became my diary- anything I'm going through I vlog about it because I recognize that so many other females go through the same things as me. I will definitely say that the idea came from God, during my devotional time.
