Let's give it up for new products! At least the ones that worked successfully with my hair, and that I deem worthy of re-purchasing. Luckily, this is not an overwhelming review, only three. That shows you how adventurous I am with products, right? Well let's get to it!
**Products are rated on a five-star rating system :)
1. Creme of Nature with Argan Oil Butter-Licious Curls
I decided to pick up this product because I was in need of more hair butter and I was already at the hair store. I've used Creme of Nature before, so I was familiar with the hairline. So let's just say that I was not dieing to try this product.
This product is very lightweight and smells like heaven, literally. It smells like a scented candle I would light in my room and would help me achieve a peaceful night's rest. But the quality? Eh....
As much as I wanted this product to be moisturizing for my hair, it was not. It, however, has been doing wonders for this synthetic hair I have in now *pats weave*. So it's a lose-win. It doesn't dry my natural hair, but it doesn't moisturize it either. It does leave it lightly-perfumed, however- which was not my objective for buying the product.
My rating: 3 stars; it didn't help my hair and it didn't harm it, but kudos to the smell!
2. Beautiful Textures Moisture Butter Whipped Curl créme
Why do curl products have such long titles? That was so much to type. *digresses*
I've wanted to try the Beautiful Textures line for some time now, and I finally had the chance to do so! It has been impossible for me to find this hairline (other than online) for the past two years, and then I finally find it at Wal-Mart- yay!
This butter is also lightweight, and does not leave an oily residue- similar to the above-mentioned Creme of Nature product. The smell resembles a Sweet Tart, or any other fruit-flavored candy. Which is just up my alley! This product did add some moisture to my strands. I will say, that I did use a generous amount when I styled my hair with it the first time, and it was a little oily, but still moisturized. The second time around, however, I used less product, and my hair was still very moisturized. Not only does this product provide moisture to my hair, but it strangely enhances my curl pattern- a first for me when using a curl butter. Altogether, I like the product and I plan to continue using it.
My rating: 4 stars; anything that helps boost my curls is a promising product
3. As I Am Coconut CoWash Cleansing Conditioner
As I Am, is another brand I have been craving to try. Originally, I was searching for a hair masque, but I stumbled upon this at the hair store and decided to give it a try, just to see what they hype was about this hairline.
Of course this is a conditioner so it had the consistency of any normal conditioner. The smell is at first refreshing, but after 5 minutes, it gets annoying- at least to me. It has a heavy coconut smell with a hint of vanilla. The application of this product, was just a little uncomfortable. I would rather squeeze my conditioner from a bottle as opposed to scooping it from a jar, but that's just me being anal.
Instead of using the product as a simple cowash, I used it as a deep-conditioning treatment. Both times that I've used the product, I kept it in my hair for 30 to 45 minutes. The results? Very moisturized hair. It replenished the moisture I stripped from my strands from shampooing prior to adding the product- and I appreciate that! Not to mention, because I generously added the product to my hair and detangled/finger-combed my strands with the product, my curls were poppin' after washing the product out of my hair!
My rating: 4 stars; would have been a 5, but it has an acquired scent
