I decided to jazz up my locs for the holidays with my first time trying loc knots! It was a pleasant surprise, with a few cons as far as installing and the take-down.
I have seen numerous videos on how to install loc knots, but I never thought my locs were long enough to achieve a decent-length curl. Even when I installed these loc knots a few weeks ago, I was taking a leap of faith, thinking my locs would look super-short. To my surprise, I didn't lose out on that much length at all!
To install the loc knots I started on freshly washed and moisturized hair. Shampooing with my Maple Holistics Tea Tree Oil Shampoo and oiling with my Loc Mink oil from Soultanicals. I took each individual loc and retwisted the root with aloe vera gel, then I bent the loc at about quarter length and spiraled the remaining length around the bent surface of the loc, then secured with a rubber-band. I hope this makes sense, I know it's probably hard to comprehend through print, but make sure you do you check out the numerous tutorials on Youtube. Keep in mind I have around 108 locs now, I believe, (haven't counted recently) so this took forever to install!
The take-down was simple. I refreshed my hair in the morning with my Tiffany's Loc Jewels Natural Hair Mist, and unaveled each loc knot. And the results were absolutely amazing! I never imagined I'd be able to achieve bouncy curls again with my hair now being loc'd, and with this style I was able to do just that!
Keep in mind, taking these things down took such a long time in comparison to my braid-outs; but the overall outcome was worth it!
Check out my pictures below. This is my hair almost two weeks after installing the loc knots! My curls were still holding on!
