Go natural, not broke.
I used to think that going natural would be cheaper than having relaxed hair because I wouldn’t be paying salon prices for touch ups every six weeks. I figured letting my hair go wild and free would actually be free. Little did I know, natural hair products can add up too. Whether you’re transitioning or you’re just looking for a way to save money on your hair, here are some tips on how to maintain your hair without breaking the bank:
1. Create your own products
If you’re a DIY type of person, or if you just like playing around with products, making your own may appeal to you. Popular all-natural hair ingredients include coconut oil, shea butter and aloe vera. Each ingredient offers its own natural benefits, so do your research and try out the ones that can provide your hair with the nourishment it needs. Then, have fun mixing!
2. Stick with what you’ve got
Every now and then you’ll buy a product that doesn’t seem to work. If something completely doesn’t work for your hair there’s no need to force it, but give it a couple weeks to work before you ditch it. Your hair may just need time to adjust to the product. Remember, a regular regimen helps promote hair growth!
3. Free samples
Who doesn’t love free stuff??? Some brands offer samples of their products free of charge. Granted these samples aren’t full sized, but a little bit can go a long way. Be on the lookout for deals and get yourself the hookup!
