Big Chop Hair. I have been stalking this hair company for the past two months! I've recently desired the want for natural-looking hair, other than my curly wigs, just to have a little more versatility and movement without fear of a wig hairline or track showing (hehe). So I stumbled across Big Chop Hair company via Instagram. At first I was skeptical of the clip ins because it just didn't seem like something that would last long or blend in with my hair. It wasn't until I saw a video of YouTube vlogger Maria Antoinette, that I reconsidered natural-hair clip ins.
In her video, I saw how she installed her hair and styled the clip ins. And it matched her natural hair perfectly. Not to mention, she dyed the weave, making it look as if she died her hair- the hair looked amazing. I looked up more information and found that the hair was so expensive (over $200) but decided it would be worth the cost because of the longevity of the hair that I predicted. I had so many plans for this hair y'all! And once purchasing, I was so excited. I bought the hair online and was sent a transaction confirmation. I assumed I would receive the hair within the next week.
Problem #1: It took one week just to receive my shipping information. Not only that, I had to look on the site's FAQs just to find out about the processing and shipping time frame- something that should've been included within my transaction confirmation. When I finally received the shipping information, I let that little mishap of un-professionalism slide.
I received the hair in the mail about two days later. I was so excited y'all- I could not wait to take down the overdo faux locs I had in my hair and install my beautiful, curly clip-ins. I accepted the package from my post woman, which was nothing more than a bubble-wrapped envelope. Not really a pretty presentation, but I just wanted to get to the hair. I opened the envelope, and ha! Problem Number Two was revealed.
Problem #2: The hair was noticeably two different textures! I ordered two bundles of the corkscrew curl, a looser more spiraled curl, but instead was given one bundle. And the second bundle was a more dense, tighter curl pattern. WTF?!?
I was so excited about the hair, I denied the difference in textures. But then I ran into Problem Number Three.
Problem #3: I didn't receive the lengths I ordered. The bags that the two bundles came in indicated that the lengths I received were both "18, when I was supposed to receive "16. Now, adding two inches to my original order was fine with me, but it made me even more skeptical of the texture. If the company messed up my length, how do I know they didn't give me the wrong textures? I called my best friend and my sister , and they agreed I should speak with customer service to inform them of the mixup. So I searched the package my bundles came in for a number or email. Which leads to Problem Number Four.
Problem #4: the provided number within the package did not pick up. I had to search the website and Instagram account for a number to text. I texted the provided number and sent an email. After, I looked up the site's return policy, which leads to Problem Number Five.
Problem #5: you cannot return the hair, and there are no refunds. You can only exchange the hair if the hair is in the same condition you received it in. *Pause* what? With a return policy that strong a vendor has to be pretty confident not only in their product, but the distribution of it as well. Also, in order to do an exchange you have to mail the hair, and cover your own shipping costs. No reimbursement even if your order is wrong.
An hour later I got a response to my email. The seller asked me to send her pictures of the hair. I did and she quickly responded, saying that one bundle was puffier and I was given 18 inches because the 16-inch bundles were out of stock. She said if I wanted to exchange I could mail the hair back at the address she gave me.
*Pause* if you didn't give me my order right the first time, why should I expect it to be correct the second time? Instead, I would've rather received my correct order, then return the incorrect orders. Also, I never received an apology, or anything. *side eye*
I responded back and asked if I would be reimbursed, and I'm still waiting on a response. Mind you, this was two weeks ago.
So I accepted the fact that I wasn't going to receive a response, so I of course had to install the hair. I'll do a separate post about the hair itself. I just had to share my experience! This hair is way too expensive to have poor, unprofessional customer service.
I would not recommend this hair. But don't worry Queens, I am currently speaking to other hair companies to review more curly clip ins. I don't want to present a problem to you all without providing a solution.
Stay tuned for my second review after installing these Big Chop Hair clip ins.
